This paper was published as part of the International Conference on the Foundations of Digital Games, a venue that blends from humanistic interpretation of games all the way to technical implementation of game-related artificial intelligence. The conference took place somewhat south of Santa Cruz in San Luis Obispo, CA this past summer.
The first author (primary author) of this paper, Elin Carstensdottir, was recently hired as an Assistant Professor of Computational Media at UC Santa Cruz to teach in our Games & Playable Media professional masters program. She and Adam will soon be collaborating on a project to analyze the several hundred Twine games that all of you built in CMPM 80K in recent quarters.
