Instructions:

Participants answered two questions assessing how much they believed that science careers afforded communal and agentic utility values 

Response Options:

Scales ranging from 1 (not at all) to 7 (extremely) (taken from Diekman et al. 2010, 2011). 

Items:

The communal item was as follows: ‘‘How much do you believe that science affords working with people, helping others, and serving the community?’’

The agentic item was as follows: ‘‘How much do you believe that science affords power, achievement, and seeking new experiences or excitement?’’
