+Sense of Belonging Scale
Anderson-Butcher & Conroy (2002)
Topic: Campus Engagement & Belonging - Sense of Belonging
Description of Measure:
The items listed below are the result of a model modification made to the Boys & Girls Club’s Sense of Belonging scale. The original 10-item inventory, was proved to be suboptimal for accurately assessing belonging among youth participating in programs similar to that of the Boys & Girls Club. The authors cited below, performed statistical analysis of the 10-item inventory and found that 5 out of the 10 items yielded low factorial validity. The resulting suggested edits to the inventory by the authors yielded acceptable factorial validity and therefore, might be useful in assessing Sense of Belonging.
