Bambu Setup

Slicing is the process of preparing a 3D model for printing.

DSI students are trained on BAMBU STUDIO, which is a free 3D slicing program created by Bambu.

This is the software we use for our Bambu X1 Carbon printers. In order to print your own model, you will need to slice it using Bambu Studio first.

This slicer is capable of reading a wide variety of 3D model file types, but we recommend that you export your project files in .STL or .OBJ format.

There are two computers available for you to use in the DSI with BAMBU STUDIO,

but you can also download BAMBU STUDIO on your own device.

Download BAMBU STUDIO for free : https://bambulab.com/en/download/studio Links to an external site.

Follow the installation process until you reach the screen below

Continue through the setup until you reach the printer selection screen.

The printer the DSI has is the X1 Carbon, with nozzle sizes .4, .2, and .8 available.

Make sure these are checked.

We highly recommend unchecking other printers as files sliced for different printers will NOT work with our machines.

The next step asks for 3D filament types.

The DSI has the following filament types available:

PLA filament with brands Bambu, Polymaker, and Generic.

Please note that other filaments may be added to our space over time.

We do not have the ability for you to send your prints over the network, so you do not need to install the network plugin.
