Slice Settings for Bambu

General Settings

You can open and close the slice settings by clicking on the Prepare panel on the top left of Bambu Studio.  Bambu will offer a set of default options with some variability. These are a great place to start, and often you can use these settings without any changes to the advanced settings. Options in the general settings will never go beyond recommended settings for the material and print nozzle you have selected.

Preview Mode

After loading the file, choosing the filament and printer, and inputting your settings, click on the ā€œSlice Plateā€ button on the top right to slice the model. This will generate a pop up window that shows you the different times for each part of your print as well as the total time and how much filament will be used in the print.

This is a screenshot of the prepare menu on the Bambu slicing software. On this menu there is a circle near the bottom indicating where the patron can find the total time for the print.

You will need to record the print time to check out the key for the 3D printer.

You may want to record the grams of material needed. If a filament is getting low, you can ask one of our DSI Student Assistants to measure the filament weight to see if there will be enough.

After slicing, and before saving to the MicroSD, it is highly recommended that you view your print in the preview stage. Here, you can view an approximation of what each layer will look like. Dragging the vertical bar on the right hand side of the screen will display the print as it builds up each layer. The play button at the bottom will show you the path the print head will take at that layer.
