>> Using Cricut Heat Presses
The DSI currently has two types of Cricut heat presses for your heat-transfer projects.
The Cricut EasyPress Mini
- This press is perfect for smaller projects and acts very much like a small iron. It has a precision tip and is a good choice for projects that require applying vinyl in hard-to-reach places. With three heat settings and an insulated base, this device is a handy way to add designs to shoes, stuffed animals, and items with unusual contours.
Use this press with it's included base and heat transfer pad.
For your safety, it is important to remember that the heat press gets very hot.
Low: 255-295∘ F
Medium: 300-355∘F
High: 360-400∘ F
Be sure to avoid touching the hot plate on the bottom of the press. Follow manufacturers directions for transferring vinyl or infusible ink designs.
- This heavy duty press has a heated plate that is 15x12 inches. It is ideal for larger projects, particularly those that rely on steady pressure in addition to heat. With an external variable temperature control, this press is precise and can reach up to 400
∘F. There is also a convenient countdown timer which allows for precision in heat transfer applications.
For best results, it is important to use a piece of parchment in between the press' metal plate and the vinyl being transferred.
For safety it is important to note that this press has an auto-release function. When the timer indicates that the press is done, it pops open automatically. Users want to ensure that they are not in the way of this release which occurs toward the back of the press where the hinge is located. Always stand in front of the press, not behind it.
Burns are no fun! Be sure to avoid touching the hot metal plate on the top paddle of the press. Follow manufacturers directions for the appropriate temperature and time when transferring vinyl or infusible ink designs.
