>> DSI Policies

Failure to follow usage policies may result in loss of access to the DSI.

  • Food and Drink are not allowed inside of the DSI.
  • We hold booking reservations for 15 minutes.  If you do not show up within 15 minutes of your booking, we will cancel your reservation in order to make the machine available for walk-ins.
  • Reservations are limited to one machine per patron at a time unless pre-approved by
DSI staff.  This is to allow for access and equity in the availability of equipment.
  • Creation of weapons is prohibited (even in parts)
  • The 3D printers and other equipment may not be used for illegal activities.
  • The equipment may not be used for commercial purposes. The DSI is a space for learning, not for profit.
  • Timed machine cuts and prints must be completed within the operating hours of the studio. These hours are currently 9 am to 7 pm Monday through Thursday and 9 am to 5 pm on Friday.  Printers cannot be left to run overnight. If your print is not complete by the time the DSI closes, DSI students will stop the printer to properly close the space.
  • Some equipment requires a check-out procedure through the front desk, however none of the equipment can leave the DSI.
  • Patrons are responsible for adhering to US copyright law.
  • Only DSI provided materials may be used in the 3D printers and laser cutters.
  • Do not run or engage in any horseplay in the space. There are a lot of sharp corners, hot object and delicate parts being used here.
  • All existing library policies must be observed while in the studio.
