>> Frequently Asked Questions
Who Is Allowed To Use The DSI Equipment?
Any UCSC affiliate (students, faculty, and staff) who has completed Library training.
Do I Have To Be Taking A Class To Use The Equipment in the DSI?
No. Classes that work with the DSI will get priority use; however, we invite any UCSC affiliate with an academic or creative project to use the space.
Do I Need To Pay To Use Equipment?
Currently it does not cost anything to use our equipment. We endeavor to keep our spaces free through the generous donations from our donors as well as university funding. This policy will be revisited quarterly to determine feasibility.
I'm Teaching A Class And I Want To Use DSI Equipment. How Would I Go About That?
To be sure that we can properly support your class, please contact us at digitalscholarship@ucsc.edu. We are eager to work with you and find the best way to support your unique needs.
Can I use more than one machine at once?
Generally patrons are allowed to use only one machine at a time. This is to allow for access and equity within the space.
Can You Make Something For Me?
The DSI operates under the philosophy that the making process is an important part of the learning process. If you have a project you're interested in, you are welcome to learn how to use our equipment and print out your project yourself. We are unable to create things for you.
