About this course
The subject of this course is the representation of Asian Americans in U.S. visual media culture. Through an examination of film, television, and digital productions about as well as by Asian Americans and with the support of readings on film theory, racial studies, feminist studies, cultural criticism, and independent cinema, our goal is to build the skills and vocabulary to conduct an informed critical analysis of the representation of Asian Americans, and further, to engage in thoughtful and generative discussions about the dynamic between communities and the media.
