CHAN IS MISSING
This week's class screening is of the fiction film, CHAN IS MISSING, by director Wayne Wang (who has worked both inside and outside of Hollywood). CHAN IS MISSING is a pivotal, paradigm-shifting film in the Asian American cinema movement; it marks what Renee Tajima-Peña describes as the 2nd stage of Asian American filmmaking (in the 1980s). It will engage you in unexpected ways, and I think you will enjoy it! Here are some discussion questions to consider; and please do a careful reading of Peter Feng's essay, “Being Chinese American, Becoming Asian American: Chan Is Missing.”
Remember to take good notes!!
