Instructions
In your Final Reflection (which in Canvas calls a "Quiz" or a "Survey", but it's a reflection), draw from the experiences you listed in Assignment 1 ("Individual Listing of Experiential Opportunities and Academic Courses for GTA") to show that you have engaged, experienced, and/or demonstrated the themes, values and principles at the core of each of the five pillars. Please refer to the Rubric below and clearly describe the experience(s) you participated in and how they relate to each pillar, being as specific as possible in describing what you’ve learned and how you’ve extended the themes and commitments underlying each pillar. Note that one learning experience may be relevant in more than one of your pillar reflections. Once you submit your reflection form, you will not be able to edit submitted responses. It is recommended that you draft your responses in a google doc and copy them to the relevant pillar in this form so that, if needed, you will have access to your content to edit or for other purposes.
Reflection Rubric
You don’t necessarily have to make and/or see major changes to write a successful reflection. Successful completion of the pillars recognizes that changes can be small and incremental and that those small changes contribute to ongoing, collective efforts to move toward the larger shifts we hope to bring about.
Satisfactory: Your reflection shows that you have a strong understanding of the pillars' themes and how your relevant coursework and/or leadership experiences continue the work, values, and principles associated with each specific pillar. Your reflection also synthesizes your classroom, leadership, and community engagement knowledge and experiences in relation to the pillars' themes and goals, drawing connections between historical examples and our current moment.
Needs improvement: Your reflection does not yet demonstrate a thorough understanding of the themes of the pillars and/or offers only minimal engagement with the main themes, values, and principles of the pillars. You may have some good ideas, but they remain at the level of superficial reflection. Additionally, your reflection would benefit from a more robust discussion of how your coursework, leadership, and/or participation in community engagement opportunities relate to the specific goals of each pillar.
Special Distinction: Your reflection is exceptional in clearly articulating not only a deep understanding of the themes, values, and principles of each pillar but also a nuanced synthesis of how your particular academic and co-curricular experiences demonstrate a full engagement with each pillar. In this way, your reflection also makes clear how your different experiences come together to shape your successes, how your contributions to social change develop out of those successes, as well as your contributions to multidimensional learning and leadership.
