Paper writing - pick team
- Due Oct 7, 2019 by 5:20pm
- Points 10
- Submitting a text entry box
1) Narrow down to one project you most want to work on. Tell me:
- Project
- Team members
- For each team member, what is their ambition level
- For each team member, what things do they already know about this topic
2) Related work checking
- Find at least 2 possibly related papers
- Google Scholar is your friend (but there are many other ways to search for papers as well)
- You only need to read the abstract and look at results figures to get a feel for a paper
- You are looking specifically for papers that would invalidate the novelty claim or contribution claim of the proposed projects. We can't write a paper about what someone already wrote. However we might be able to twist around our contribution to avoid theirs. This initial survey is an important part of the research process to avoid doing tons of work on something that was already done 20 years ago.
- Submit your new related work , with a sentence or two explaining if they invalidate the claim, what they do, or if they are similar or use the same method but turned out not to invalidate the paper.
3) Make a list of all the things you think you will need for this project, and whether you have them. For example:
- - dual lens mobile phone - have iPhoneXXV
- - software to capture from both lenses - need to investigate if this is possible
- - software for stereo processing - plan to use OpenCV
- - pico projector - nope, I hope the instructor has one to use
