Read this paper:
- An Architecture for Character-Rich Social Simulation Links to an external site.. Michael Mateas and Josh McCoy. Game AI Pro, Chapter 43. AK Peters/RC Press, September 11, 2013.
Play this game.
- Prom Week. (Credits here). The directions for playing this offline are included about halfway down the page. It involves downloading a SWF file and installing a stand-alone flash player. Play for at least 40 minutes or so to get a flavor of the gameplay. If you want you can skip the tutorial by selecting New Story at the main menu. Playing with a second person is a good way to toss ideas of things to try and reactions back and forth.
Submit a 1 to 1.5 page PDF answering the following questions. Include a header in your document for each question. You can work on this in pairs if you wish to facilitate conversation, but if you do, you should both submit the reading response so that I have it in canvas for each of you. Additionally, be sure to include both your names at the top of your response.

- What was *not* convincing? (Where did the authors overlook something? Where would you challenge them?)
- What questions do you have for the author(s)?
- For the game, describe how you feel the design successfully makes use of the CiF social simulation model and/or where the design fails to successfully leverage the model.
- Any other questions/comments?
