  • Points 5
  • Submitting a file upload
  • File Types pdf and zip

Read these two articles:

  • From section 3 (last four pages) of Designing Past the Game/Story Dilemma Links to an external site.. Josh Mccoy , Mike Treanor , Ben Samuel , Aaron A. Reed , Michael Mateas , Noah Wardrip-fruin. Proceedings of Foundations of Digital Games, 2013. I'm having you read the last part of this paper as it describes the design iterations and AI-based game design process for Prom Week.
  • Toward Characters Who Observe, Tell, Misremember and Lie Links to an external site.. James Ryan, Adam Summerville, Michael Mateas, Noah Wardrip-Fruin. 2nd Workshop on Experimental AI in Games at AI in Interactive Digital Entertainment 2015.

Submit a 1 to 1.5 page PDF answering the following questions. Include a header in your document for each question. You can work on this in pairs if you wish to facilitate conversation, but if you do, you should both submit the reading response so that I have it in canvas for each of you. Additionally, be sure to include both your names at the top of your response.

Questions

For the first paper:

  • Briefly describe 4 iterations of Prom Week and what was learned from each.

For the second paper:

  • Summarize the article.
  • What was convincing? (Where did you see or learn something new with the authors help? Which examples or evidence was most effective?)
  • What was *not* convincing? (Where did the authors overlook something? Where would you challenge them?)
  • What questions do you have for the author(s)?
