Instructions: Complete the following challenging problems to the best of your abilities. Partial credit is available for most problems, so try your best. Aim for 2-4 sentence explanations, where applicable, and when formulating arguments and sets, please follow conventions for standard form described in the readings and lecture.
Weekly Assessments close on Saturday at 5pm. Students have 2 hours to complete the assessment once they start it. I recommend reviewing Jordan's Puzzlers for this week before attempting the Weekly Assessment.

Instructions: Respond to the following prompt. You should dedicate, roughly, 150-200 words to each writing task in the prompt. Explain in your own words (no quotes) and provide examples to support your explanations. Please, no outside sources. Stick to the readings from the course. By completing this, you can earn up to 20 extra credit points on this weekly assessment. Please attach to your weekly assessment as a .pdf assignment comment.

Explain what an argument is and give an example in standard form. Explain what symbolic logic is and why philosophers are interested in it. Explain the concept of validity and provide an example of a valid argument and an invalid argument (in standard form). Read through Patrick Hurley’s history of logic (link) and summarize three key ideas that you learned about symbolic logic.
